Signs of Spring…

Cane+Rush chair seat restoration

Rush seating for a drop in frame on a trapezium shaped chair. Once completed the chair was off to be French polished. Using the traditional method of hand twisting 3 rushes together to produce one continuous weave throughout the rushing of the chair. Rush is a natural living plant, the rushes used to create your seat will in time turn from subtle hues of greens and blues to mellowed honeyed tans and golds more commonly associated with rush seated chairs. Rush items are best stored in a dry environment out of direct sunlight.
